Forms & Checklists

Pre-Installation Checklist

Site readiness is the single most controllable variable in installation quality. This checklist covers what needs to be confirmed before Fine Edge crew arrives, reducing delays, callbacks, and avoidable surprises.

Why Site Readiness Matters

Most installation delays are caused by conditions the fabricator encounters on arrival that were not communicated in advance: incomplete concrete curing, conflicting trades on site, blocked access, substrate changes. One visit to confirm conditions takes far less time than a rescheduled install. A crew dispatched to a site that is not ready loses billable hours on both ends, and the customer loses schedule days that are difficult to recover.

Working through this checklist before the scheduled installation date eliminates the most common categories of preventable delay.

Substrate and Anchoring

What surface are the posts or brackets attaching to? Confirm the substrate is the same as specified at quote time. Common issues that arise at installation:

If the substrate has changed since the quote was approved, contact Fine Edge before the installation date, not after the crew arrives.

Site Access

Can Fine Edge crew access the installation area with tools and materials? Confirm the following before the scheduled date:

Neighboring Trade Coordination

Is Fine Edge installing while other trades are active on the same job? Metal fabrication work often occurs near the end of a construction sequence, which creates overlap with painters, flooring contractors, and finish carpenters. Confirm:

Safety and Site Conditions

Before Fine Edge crew begins drilling, cutting, or embedding into any surface, confirm the following:

Communication Before Arrival

Any changes to scope, site conditions, or access since the quote was approved should be communicated before crew deployment, not discovered on arrival. This includes:

Early communication gives Fine Edge the opportunity to adjust crew size, equipment, or materials before dispatch. Late communication, on the morning of installation or after the crew arrives, typically results in a rescheduled visit and additional mobilization cost.
