General contractors across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach rely on Fine Edge for code-compliant structural steel built to spec, delivered on schedule, and installed in-house.
A general contractor needed a code-compliant exterior staircase for a raised platform, tight footprint, OSHA grating requirement, deadline before the next inspection window.
Existing wooden access stairs were deteriorating and flagged during a site walk. The GC had already gotten a quote from a prefab supplier, but the standard unit didn't fit the platform footprint and the lead time was six weeks. They needed it built right and installed before the county's next scheduled inspection.
Fine Edge fabricated custom A36 carbon steel stringers sized to the exact platform dimensions, with galvanized bar grating treads for slip resistance and open-air drainage. The 42" pipe railing with midrail was welded to FBC / OSHA compliance, and the full assembly was powder-coated gloss black before delivery. Fabricated, delivered, and installed in one day.
A36 structural carbon steel (stringers and landing frame), ASTM A1011 1" galvanized bar grating panels (open-serrated, slip-resistant), 1½" Schedule 40 pipe for top rail and midrail, zinc primer + powder-coat gloss black topcoat. All welds inspected pre-delivery. Anchor connections through concrete slab with wedge anchors, torqued to spec.
Passed county inspection on first visit with no deficiency items. Total project time from call to installed: 9 days. The GC went on to spec Fine Edge for structural column brackets and roof-access ladder fabrication on the same site, three projects, one shop relationship.
